Woodrow’s history

Woodrow is an unincorporated community about six miles west of Lafleche. The community was originally known as Hoffnungsfeld, and its early settlers included immigrants who had come from North Dakota. In 1909 George Reimche began services at what became the Woodrow Gospel Chapel.

In its day Woodrow was the hub of the local area, with lumber yards, grain elevators, three churches and three or more general stores. Intercity bus service by the Saskatchewan Transportation Company continued until the end of May 2017.

The village was formally dissolved on March 21, 2002, and is now administered by the surrounding Rural Municipality of Wood River No. 74. Today it is an agricultural area.
